This series of Notebooking Central booklets is a response to teachers who asked for Notebook Foldables that: provide graphics to aid comprehension and memory; provide duplicable front tabs for use in student notebooks that offer space for student responses on the back of tabs, underneath tabs, or on the notebook page surrounding tabs; and provide ideas for the use of Notebook Foldables within different content areas.

This resource book was created in response to an outpouring of teacher requests for supplemental writing aids with a primary focus on nonfiction or expository writing. Many of the templates in this sampler will serve as engaging springboards adn scaffolds for planned writing pieces. In consulting the writing standards, we have slanted the templates more toward expository writing. Pick and choose appropriate templates for direct instruction, writers' workshops, writing conferences, partner work, and individual experimentation. We are pleased to include a poem from Brod Bagert as an inspired beginning to a writer's notebook.
