 A special evening is in store with a hands-on activities and presentation by 
 Dinah Zike and directors. Foldables^® and classroom Projects. Envelope Foldables^® 
 and general overview of 3-D graphic organizers for all subjects K-12.

9:00-9:15  WELCOME, Purpose of day, TEA credit info.

9:15-10:30  Dinah Zike will set the stage for the entire day, sharing her background and inspiration
  for the basics of developing Foldables^®.      
           

10:40-12 noon   Breakout Session 1: NOTEBOOKING BLOCK

   a. Notebooking in the classroom – Secondary (6-12)- how to start using interactive

      notebooks immediately in your own classroom!

  b. Notebooking in the classroom – Elementary (PreK-5)- how to start using interactive

      notebooks immediately in your own classroom!

These hands-on sessions will demonstrate how notebooks may be used: as an
Interactive communication tool; as a portfolio; to build visual literacy skills;
as a study guide;and as an organizing strategy for thought processes and materials. 
Cross-curricular and grade-range appropriate examples will be shared in each session.

12-1:10 p.m.  LUNCH on your own or “Lunch with Dinah” (reservation needed; includes lunch).
                    This private opportunity will feature opportunity to meet directly with Dinah in 
                    a working session. All materials and an excerpt from her NEWEST book:
                    Envelope Graphic Organizers included. ($50 additional)    
           

 1:15-2:30   Breakout Session 2: VOCABULARY BLOCK      

                    a. Vocabulary Instruction with Foldables^® – Secondary (6-12) 
                    b. Vocabulary Instruction with Foldables^{® _}  Elementary (PreK-5) 


                    Each of these sessions will highlight the research basis for vocabulary instruction
                    as you create independent Foldables^® and also Visual Kinesthetic Vocabulary (VKV)
                    tools for use with your own students.

2:45-4:00   Breakout Session 3: ASSESSMENT BLOCK

  Expand your notions of assessment as you learn about formative & summative
                   assessment ideas using Notebook Foldables^®. Master Notebook Foldables^®
                   techniques and strategies to re-energize your classroom with new ways to check
                   for understanding. Learn how to use both independent and dependent Foldables^®
                   to authentically assess student progress.



4:15-5:00    Directors’ Wrap-up – Director's review of the day and then share their favorite classroom tips for   
                 implementing graphic organizers and interactive notebooking in the classroom.
