Special Friday Evening Session (Day 1):  4:30-7:30 pm Friday Night Live: Independent Foldables and Projects 3 hrs CPE credit; 2.5 hour hands-on session starts promptly at 4:30!

You'll make your own new and classic Foldables in this action-packed evening session, including an Envelope Project from Dinah's upcoming book! Use them in your classroom on Monday!

Saturday Morning Session (Day 2): 8:30-12:00 Registration/Continental Breakfast with coffee, juice, and pastries;  3 hrs CPE credit for morning session and 1st breakout.

8:30-9:00 Registration/Review of student work and exhibits

9:00 Welcome; purpose of day; TEA credit info with Dr. Rhonda Meyer Vivian
9:15-10:30 Keynote: Dinah Zike

10:40-12:00 1st Breakout Session - Notebooking block (select one):
a. Notebooking in Your Classroom-Secondary (6-12)
b. Notebooking in Your Classroom-Elementary (PreK-5)

These hands-on sessions will demonstrate how notebooks may be used: as an interactive communication tool; as a portfolio; to build visual literacy skills; as a study guide; and as an organizing tool for thought processes and materials. In each session, cross-curricular and grade-range appropriate examples will be shared.

12:00-1:15 Lunch on your own OR "Lunch with Dinah"- an opportunity to join Dinah in a working lunch and learn all about her newest book! ($50- addtl.)

Afternoon Session (Day 2): includes snack; 4 hrs CPE credit;

1:15-2:30 2nd Breakout Session - Vocabulary Instruction with Foldables (select one):
a. Vocabulary Instruction with Foldables-Secondary (6-12)
b. Vocabulary Instruction with Foldables-Elementary (PreK-5) focusing on phonics, spelling, and writing.

In each engaging session, learn about the research basis for vocabulary instruction as you create independent Foldables and Visual Kinesthetic Vocabulary (VKV) tools for use with your own students!

2:45-4:00 3rd Session - Formative and Summative Assessment with Foldables

Expand your notions of assessment as you learn how to use both independent and dependent Foldables to authentically assess student progress in this high energy session!

 
4:15-5:00 DZA Directors' wrap-up
